金碧辉煌的玉佛寺里
我的心却清凉
如白瓷观音
当我瞥见
在菩萨身上贴金的
一双虔诚的小手
在自己的脸上
也贴了一朵
甜甜的
微笑

on a smoky summer day
gasping
waiting for the arrival
of the Water-Splashing Festival

yet inside the gilded temple
my heart is cool
as a white porcelain Kwan Yin*
when I see
a little girl's devoted hands
gilding an idol
while at the same time putting
a sweet smile
on her own face
