为什么一些句子不能直译？　因为直译完全是不通的。

我们来看这两句：

1） "Hey, XXX, I need to steal you this morning"

直译：嗨，那个谁，我今天早上需要偷你。 (工作环境， 某人经理对Ta说)

2）It is a lovely house with nice landscaping and what sold me is its style.
直译: 这座带好看园景的房子真漂亮啊，而卖我的是那个样式。

感兴趣 想听听大家是怎样理解的，应该怎样翻译呢？

大概的意思是：

1) "Hey, XXX, I need to steal you this morning" 1

“嘿，那谁，今早我得把你抽调一下。”

2) It is a lovely house with nice landscaping and what sold me is its style.

我买的这房特棒，院景也棒--我买的就是它的风格。

maybe you are right, it depends on the context. If it is just being talked about by the potential buyers, then sold refers to attract.

I just found that sell has many definitions and this one fits in the context if the buyers are otential buyers: 3. To attract prospective buyers;

Sold 也可以解释为倾心（吸引我）。
我倾心它的风格。 （Sold因为是过去式， 也可能是买下房子之后和朋友谈论， 根据上下文的联系去理解 ）

我倾心它的风格---如果是在已经买了的语境下，”我买的就是它的风格“。谢谢路老师！

If it were not for its style, I wouldn't have bought it. So it was that style that made the house salable to me.
